USAID OFFICIALS VISIT HON. SENYAMULE

Two officials from USAID ,Ms. Anne Murphy ( Health Office Director USAID Tanzania )and Dr. Jema Bisimba(USAID Policy Health Advisor) plus one official from JPHIEGO Dr. Maryrose Giattas( USAID funded Jhpiego led MCGL Deputy Program Director ), paid a courtesy call to Dodoma Regional Commissioner’s Office for the purpose of official introduction of newly appointed Director of Health from USAID and also acknowledging USAID, Jhpiego & Government of Tanzania through MOH and PORALG Partnership.

Speaking to Dodoma RC, Head of USAID in Tanzania Ms. Anne said that she is newly appointed and will serve in a period of four year to support the Government of Tanzania in Health Sector.

On the side of COVID-19 Vaccination Dr. Maryrose Giattas applauded Dodoma region for working hard to improve Uptake of COVID 19 vaccination and managed to achieve the national target of 100% of adults being vaccinated in Dodoma. Region with support from USAID/Jhpiego. “ Am very proud  of Dodoma team especially Regional Administrative Secretary Dr. Fatuma Mganga and Regional Medical Officer Dr. Magoma for their Commitment which enabled those achievements”  Said  Dr. Mary Rose Giattas.

Speaking of Dodoma Region Hon.Rosemary Senyamule welcomed them and demonstrated her commitment to support National initiative to support improving uptake in COVID 19 vaccination, She emphasized her passion to support strategically Health Sector agenda. “We promise we will provide maximum collaboration and needed support to ensure our collective vision is achieved ".

Hon. Senyamule informed visitors on the interest of our President Hon. Samia Suluhu Hassan on having breast feeding areas in all public areas such shopping complex, bus stations, markets. Since USAID supports maternal and nutrition sectors I would appreciate if you will support Dodoma region on that important matter.In Dodoma we already have those services at Machinga Complex, So we will appreciate if you can support us on other public areas such as at our big bus stand and Market.

Thanking Jhpiego for their support and recognising Dodoma in achieving the national target as the first Region. RAS Dr. Fatuma Mganga acknowledged team work contribution. She said- Campaigns have contributed to accelerate uptake significantly .The last campaign which we accomplished shouldn’t be the last one.  Dodoma regional is at center hence there are a lot of immigrants and movements of people from other Regions to Dodoma. Yet based on the 2022 sensa most likely the target will change and we are expecting those changes. On the area of Covid -19, since the pandemic is still on however at lower rate, we do request USAID to support us on supply of Oxygen to be used for Covid-19 patients.

Regional Medical Officer Dr. Best Magoma said Dodoma region is expecting to receive 300,000 JJ vaccines from USAID. Apart from vaccination USAID had been working with Dodoma region on other projects such as AFYA YANGU, USAID AFYA YANGU, LISHE ENDELEVU, OBC Vanurable project, and HIV projects and alike.

On the side getting assistance on supply of Oxygen Dr. Jema Bisimba from USAID said that they are working with Global Fund to provide this assistance in all 26 Regions including Dodoma. They will communicate with the Global Fund Team and provide feedback on the process Dr. Bisimba Informed RC. Senyamule.
